NEW! Tucker, de Palma, ORGANIC

December 2nd, 2011

Tucker prints and de Palma belt

As the air gets colder and the trees give up the last of their leaves, consider adding some color to warm up your wardrobe.

Luckily, ladies, Tucker has all the spark and sizzle you need! New York designer Gaby Basora is an expert in feminine fits and playful patterns. Tucker’s feather-printed crepe de chine blouse has a retro flair, while the crepe de chine tunic is stylish layered or laid bare. Even better? Both are made in the USA.

We’re also thrilled to have the beautiful Infinity belt by de Palma! This wrap belt, handcrafted in California, is an easy way to score a few extra fashion points. Shown in smoke/black, also available in tobacco/bark.

Also in the shop: merino wool cardigans from ORGANIC by John Patrick (beige and black) and more exquisite basics from James Perse. Try on, fall in love.

five reasons to shop local, y’all

November 23rd, 2011
Shop Independent Durham Week is back! From this Saturday, November 26, to December 4, several Durham businesses will offer awesome holiday promos. We’re no exception! And for you, we’re starting our promo a day early on Friday.

Remember, $45 stays in our community for every $100 you spend at a small biz ( a measly $13 if not). On that note, SPEND $100 AT V&V and GET A FREE PAIR OF STYLISH AND SUSTAINABLE PACT SOCKS for yourself or a loved one. PACT puts its best foot forward by making its socks with organic cotton and wind power. Not to mention superfly stripes!

More spectacular gifts? Matt & Nat‘s wallets and bags are charming, holiday-ready and perfect for that hard-to-buy-for gal ($60+). Ashley Brodie‘s jewelry is dazzling, with everything from crystal earrings to vintage necklaces on display in the shop ($55+). And men and women alike will delight in Sophia Costa’s fetching wool scarves made in Nepal with llama, elephant and rhino prints ($129).

Reason #5 (or 6, 7, 8 ) to shop local? Small Business Saturday! Buy from a small biz on Saturday and GET $25 BACK from American Express. Register your AmEx card here to get the cash.

For your convenience, we’ll be OPEN EVERY SUNDAY, now through Christmas (that’s November 27th – December 18th). And we gift wrap!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Your sustain-a-bull playdates

shop small and get $25 back from AmEx

November 22nd, 2011
With big box stores urging you to crawl out of your bed (and food coma) at 5 a.m. on Black Friday and run around like a whirling dervish, we’d like to remind you to shop local this weekend.

For every $100 you spend at a national chain, $13 stays in our community. Spend the same amount at a local independent business and you keep an awesome $45 right here. Spend it online and virtually none of your money stays local.

And American Express is with us. They’re sponsoring Small Business Saturday, a day to support to small businesses. Not only can you keep your dollars more local, but when you shop with your AmEx on the 26th, you’ll get $25 back! Go to Small Business Saturday on Facebook, register your AmEx card for the discount and find small businesses to support in the Triangle.

the ruckusnovember 2011

At v&v, we’re all about better basics. And we’re always on a quest to find the best. Welcome to James Perse, an LA designer making outstanding everyday wear. His tanks, tops and dresses exemplify easy sophistication. They’re made in California with comfy cotton blends and meticulous tailoring.

Raised in LA, Perse spent time at Maxfield, his father’s boutique. There he learned about clean lines, elegance and architecture. Ultimately, his obsession with baseball caps, and their wanting design, led him to fashion. After creating the ideal cap, he launched his womenswear line in 1998. He’s been off to the races ever since.

The best compliment to James Perse, ladies? RALEIGH DENIM. No more rifling through your man’s drawers for a pair of oversized RDs, we now carry women’s! The Macon stretch denim jean is here in rich spruce and aubergine colors. To-die. And GUYS, we have the new Burke cord for you, made of Italian corduroy. Superfly.

Durham’s jewelry darling, Ashley Brodie, will be at v&v Saturday, November 19th 4-7 pm for a TRUNK SHOW. She’ll present exquisite new pieces from her line and exclusive collection for v&v. Her earrings and necklaces make the best gifts on earth!

Big kiss,

Your California dreamin’ playdates
